No corporation can ever be trusted, they exist to exploit you.

I think walled gardens are inevitable, and desirable, and the walls have doors. I think we'll end up with a big mainstream garden/island of federation of U.S. pop culture w/ Threads and CNN and my mom. Other gardens/islands for things like child safe content, adult only content, servers that refuse to federate with for-profit servers (where I'll be), etc.

Also, I suspect it will (or already is) be common for people to have multiple accounts on different servers for different purposes. I find myself blocking all porn, not because I'm anti porn but it's just not what I'm looking for when I log in with this account. When I want porn, I'll make an account on the nsfw server just for that.

I think -- copyright should apply to humans only and be non-transferable from the original artist except in cases of death. Grant copyright to individuals or joint copyright with groups with fractional right for 7 years if the work is distributed, 1 year if not. Legal entities cannot own any copyright at all.

The fediverse is the real internet, it's not a company providing a service. On the real internet, once something gets out there, there can never be a guarantee that it's taken back. Even on Reddit, once you post something, Reddit might fully delete it but someone out there may have copied it.

I sure hope there's a large group of servers that refuse to federate with servers run for profit. I didn't come to be a product and be manipulated with algorithms.

I will remove myself from any servers that federate with Meta.

It's way better participating. I lurked on Reddit and things like it for years before I got the courage to speak up. I was so afraid of saying the wrong thing. Eventually I realized I'm not nearly the dumbest one, who cares lol.
