Well they lost a customer with recommendations to other possible customers... you're not the loser here

I don't mean to be offensive but I have all kind of thoughts about Android until I find this thread in the timeline... then all of my thoughts fade away Similar to losing things you see daily when you really need it

You can try different distros online using distrosea.com , if you're not planning to use a distro with no GUI ( like Arch , where everything need terminal ) then I would recommend focusing on trying to learn dealing with DE ( like Gnome , KDE , XFCE , SWAY , etc )... while testing make sure to do things like trying terminal , playing with settings , discovering things etc , and any obstacles/questions you find you can search for its answers and solutions....

For resources, I mostly find answers and learn new things about linux from any websites I find in a web searching about Linux ( right now I only remember Linux TLDR , Arch wiki , Ubuntu forums , its foss - not only Linux focused -) , reddit , and linux@lemmy.ml community on Lemmy ( both news and questions ) For news , usually Linux community on lemmy and The Linux experiment channel on peertube ( iirc they have a YouTube channel too but I know nothing about it )

Linux has more freedom and diversity than Windows, I also wanted to try something unusual compared to the routinized experience of Windows , I wanted also to get rid of Windows restrictions ( like the need to activate Windows to fully use it while I live in a country where there's no way to activate it , ads and such things )

Hi....

  • I don't know what to say in the introduction, but in brief I have some questions about Linux, which were formed after trying some distributions on DistroSea and observing Linux communities on the Internet. Can you help with the answer?
  1. I liked Gnome DE interface very much, but whenever I look at the empty workspace after closing an app , I feel that something is missing (sorry, I have been using Windows for almost 15 years). Is there an add on - or any other way - to install some apps on workspace? Or do I have to get used to it as it is ?

  2. I read that Linux is more problematic on laptops than on personal computers, is this true? If so...what are the usual problems and is there a way to avoid them?

  3. Are there any distributions that come with the minimum pre-installed apps ? ... I mean not even a video or music player

  4. If I want to delete a pre-installed app (let's say the default browser), can this be done easily or does it require root, like Android?

  5. Does rooting invalidate the system from obtaining updates?

  6. I read that switching DEs is easy... but how exactly is it done? Something in the settings, or downloading the interface independently, or customizing it to be similar to the other, or something else?

  7. Lazy question : What are wayland and docker? I see a lot of people mentioning them

  • Sorry for the many questions, and thanks in advance

A few minutes ago I suddenly woke up , I didn't sleep well

At the beginning everything was normal , then I blinked and ...

The lighting suddenly became more yellow (and unnatural) and the closet I was looking at turned into a frightening and shocking appearance (the closet itself, it was vandalized in a way that I can't even remember to describe). I remained in shock for three or four seconds, then I found myself closing my eyes tightly ( it was an involuntary reaction ), and when I opened my eyes again, everything returned to normal.

This is the first time in my life that this has happened to me

So ... any scientific explanation?

Thanks in advance
