Is it because they're dying? I mean a lot of them are pretty old.

hi there, yes, hello. I am currently still without power 8 days after the storm hit. I am fortunate as I have a whole home generator. I had to install that after the 7th time of losing my very expensive diabetic medication/food/sanity from previous power failures. i hate it here so much but i can't leave because we're here to help my inlaws and they refuse to move. it is as bad as everyone thinks it is... it might actually be worse. thanks for an opportunity to vent. it's been and continues to be quite the ordeal. And no, i haven't attacked any linemen... i would make them cookies if they came to my neighborhood.

If that was the whole story, I would agree with you...but there has been a 30-year campaign of voter suppression, gerrymandering, and general fuckery that causes that number to be so low. In the 2020 election at the height of covid, Greg "piss baby" Abbott limited ballot drop-off locations to one. In smaller, traditionally more republican counties this wasn't as bad for them...but they did this for Harris County... a very blue county with millions of residents. Texas doesn't have drop-off boxes for absentee ballots, as some states do. Instead, to drop off a mail-in ballot in person at any location, voters must present an approved form of ID to a poll worker, and voters can't turn in any one else's ballot... sick gramma? fuck you drag her here to drop that shit off. Did they sue? you bet they did. did they lose? you bet they did because Texas has been fucked by the right for the last 30 years.

If I remember the ancient days correctly, you were supposed to downvote incorrect info so it wouldn't appear at the top? You weren't supposed to downvote if you disagreed but if it was wrong info? Am I hallucinating that?

Of course this didn't actually happen. Gov. Piss Baby Abbott said that abortions didn't need to be legal because they were going to stop rape in the state of Texas.../s. Ew, I threw up in my mouth a little typing that...

Project 2025 The plan the Conservative have for our future

This is for everyone that is taking the "oh well" stance... or the I'm going to wait it out stance... If you are unfamiliar with what the Republicans plan to do, I encourage you to look at the Project 2025 plan.

Some highlights

  • slash funding for the DOJ
  • dismantle the FBI
  • decimate environmental and climate change regulations in favor of fossil fuels
  • eliminate the department of commerce
  • ending the independence of multiple federal agencies
  • abolish the department of education
  • scientific funding would be limited to pro-conservative principles
  • end abortion nationwide
  • infuse government with Christianity
  • criminalize pornography
  • removing protections against discrimination for sexual or gender identity
  • terminating diversity, equity and inclusion programs and affirmative action
  • the military would be used for domestic law enforcement
  • the arrest and detention of undocumented immigrants
  • speedy capital punishment

Project director Paul Dans, a former Trump administration official, explained that Project 2025 is "systematically preparing to march into office and bring a new army, aligned, trained, and essentially weaponized conservatives ready to do battle against the deep state."

So, for fucks sake, can we stop saying that we can wait out Trump for another term. There won't be an America left if there is another term.

What you're looking for is Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. He was by all accounts an incredibly kind man who hosted a children's show in America. He was one of the first people to appear on screen with a black man with both of their feet in a kiddie pool. He also did a great deal of work for public media in 1969. https://www.pbs.org/video/mister-rogers-goes-washington-ycjrnx/ He was indeed worthy of holding Mjölnir.
