I have definitely had to forget networks, then have them connect to that network weeks later at random, then having to forget the network again. Don't know how that's legal.

I mean... it's probably good to talk about these things before getting married, since it will inevitably lead to unresolved feelings later on. I wouldn't mind if, for instance, my partner was a slut while I was a sexless virgin before we got together, but I would at least want to know that about them. In my mind you're supposed to talk about your life experiences with your partner, and sex is falls under that umbrella. Idk, maybe I'm weird for thinking that.

Do not connect your Smart TVs to network people, seriously. Just a bad idea. Use a media center PC or some other device that allows you to stream content, and make sure the TV itself is just a big monitor, nothing more.

I would be fine with it if it were a privacy-respecting platform that was subscription-based first and foremost, then had an ad-supported tier as well, but unfortunately it's owned by Google so they're collecting untold troves of data even from paid subscribers and that's the actual product for them.

And when you point that out to the AI, those code snippets get replaced with even more spaghetti that is maybe 1% closer to actually working, at best. Been there!

Stochastic terrorism needs to have more severe criminal penalties for career politicians specifically. Right-wing figureheads have been getting away with this shit for too long.

We're now penalizing the parents of school shooters, so if we find out that someone who threatens to bomb a school is a super fan of X person, then X person should face some sort of penalty if they continually put out deliberate lies about said school. We did a version of this with Alex Jones already, just follow through with that logic honestly.

Everything should have physical buttons because touchscreens don't have haptic feedback and therefore demand more attention, which should be focused on the road. Physical buttons can be controlled via muscle memory much more quickly.

For HVAC, not all automatic systems are created equal and some people just prefer to adjust temps and fans manually.

I really hope this is true because I have met soooo many people in my personal life who seriously believe the position of the stars affects every little facet of your life.

No, nuance exists and this is ridiculous absolutism lmao.

Historical or alternate history fiction falls under pure fiction imo. That's fine as long as it makes sense. If it's meant to be some super grounded realistic historical slice-of-life then it would just make me think "when are they going to bring up the fact that there's X type of person walking around here" for the whole story.

Not exclusive to black people. If there were a story that took place in 12th century Mongolia and there was some Nordic guy walking around I would be like "huh, what's his story" and then be confused when it was never mentioned. That's how I feel about a lot of these creative choices.

Really shows you that their worldview leaves no room for multiculturalism lol. As soon as brown people are let into their country's borders, bam, suddenly their whole identity and culture ceases to exist somehow, despite still being the majority.

Getting mad sure, but it is definitely a dumb creative decision to have characters be random races that don't make sense in the historical context and it's fine to criticize it. If it's a purely fictional world with no basis in reality then no one should care.

I'm procrastinating at work and installing random packages with CLI that are just fun to mess with. Recently I've been looking up all my co-workers with Sherlock, just for fun. Does anyone else have CLI stuff that they like to screw with when they're bored?

I took this at Muskallonge State Park in Michigan. It's the only place within a few hundred miles of my house that's Bortle class 1, meaning zero light pollution. It was fantastic and I absolutely want to go back sometime.

Thinking about this because of a greentext I saw earlier complaining about OF models.

It feels like a lot of the stigma surrounding sex work in the modern day (that doesn't just boil down to misogyny/gender norms/religion) is based on the fact that selling intimate aspects of one's self places a set value on something that many see as sacred; something that shouldn't have monetary value.

Not to say anything about the economic validity of a society without currency, but I think that, hypothetically, if that were to exist, sex work would be less stigmatized since this would no longer be a factor. Those engaged in sex work would be more likely to be seen as doing it because it's something they are good at/enjoy, and less because it's an "easy" way to make money, as some think. It would also eliminate the fear of placing set value on social, non sex-work related intimacy (not that those fears were well-founded to begin with).
