Hello, everyone!

I’ve been thinking lately about how I don’t know that many furs that are into musicals, despite the insane amount of artistic talent within the fandom. I thought it might be neat to have a place for likeminded broadway and off-broadway furs to talk to one another so now it exists!!

To start, what are everyone’s favourite musicals?

For me, I have a major soft spot for Into The Woods. Was one of my first musicals as a kid and everytime I come back to it I always find I relate to it in new ways.

I have an absolutely insane amount of things running across two machines right now because I’m a moron. XD

But the ones that actually see a significant amount of usage are:

  • Romm (Video game rom archive)
  • Plex & Jellyfin (Movie and TV streaming)
  • Komga (Book/Comic/Manga archive)
  • Nextcloud (File/Cloud storage)
  • Metube (YouTube downloader)
  • Overseer/Sonarr/Radarr (Media Requests for Plex)
  • PeerTube (Fedi YouTube)
  • Pixelfed (Fedi Instagram)
  • Mastodon (You all know what this is lol)
  • Audiobookshelf (Audiobook archive)
  • Immich (Photo backup and organization)
  • Mealie (Recipe manager)
  • Vikunja (To-do list app)

It’s so sad to hear that KDE died of figma.

(For real though I’m looking forward to seeing how this turns out, love Plasma a lot so hoping for the best from it)

I’ve never been to a naming convention but I have been to some comic conventions!

A Treasure Trove of Gaming History has been Recovered! Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII and an additional 18 Square Enix i-Mode games, thought lost to history, have resurfaced. This impressive haul includes various Kingdom Hearts titles, and the recovery process involved using a debug cable method devised by the Kahvibreak Discord member XYZ.

Read about the discovery

The incredible efforts of researchers like RockmanCosmo and Twitter user @NaoyaShinota, employing a custom debug cable and Linux scripts, have brought back games such as Final Fantasy 4 After Years, Final Fantasy Legends, and the Kingdom Hearts Card Struggle series.

For enthusiasts, this is an opportunity to revisit these titles on emulators like DoJa SDK. However, some games like Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII still require more work to be made functional.

Have you played any of these Square Enix feature phone games?

I am SO happy this game is getting made. I loved Astro’s Playroom so much.

Except that one time. We don’t talk about that one time 😰

(For real though I’m glad they put so much thought into the UX with accents, this is an awesome addition to the DE)

Gotta say, I appreciate the level of commitment. That bit at the end probably wouldn’t have worked if he didn’t have a baby for the video. Very few YouTubers who are that dedicated to their videos that they do that.

Ooof, I remember all too well. I don’t see myself being hyped for Fallout 5.

Tbh with something like the Saturn, I'd recommend just grabbing a japanese one. They're typically found much cheaper and are also often in better condition (and come in more colours!)

I love Framerater. They have insanely detailed videos about obscure gaming subjects and I quite enjoy it. :)

Per /u/Harcroft from /r/OriginalXbox:

I’m still plugging away at collecting and distributing original Xbox DLC. Currently we are missing around 300 Title updates and DLC packs.

We’ve made a huge amount of progress this year including:

-building a list of what we know is missing, it can be found over on ConsoleMods.org. (thanks to /u/Derf_Jagged to starting and hosting the page!)

-Milenko has coded Pinecone, a tool to scan through an Xbox file dump to look for lost content and updates

-I’ve built the database file for Pinecone with all known and archived DLC, this information can be access by anyone and be used for any other appliation or tool anyone wants to build

-16 new installers released in 2023 so far, with 2 more pending, waiting on testers

-The first Auto-Update for Halo 2 was found, rewriting known history for Halo 2 online

-The last missing update for Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2 was found!

-A partial set of Mechassault PAL/Region 4 DLC was found which allowed us to generate a full set of PAL DLC for that title (thanks /u/HoneySoakedSeagull!)

-A partial dump of Advent Rising DLC was found, allowing us to generate a replacement set of the missing 4 DLCs (thanks /u/CasuallyNoted!)

-Ignoring roster updates and duplicate DLCs we got the unique missing DLC list down to just 1 title! Shikigami no Shiro II

-We figured out a way to force the Xbox to load a title update from a different version of a game, paving the way to “spoofed” title updates to maximize compatibility between players on System Link and Xbox Live replacement services (thanks navipar!)

The year isn’t even half up yet and we’ve done so much, I can’t wait to see how much we get done as a community before the end of the year.

Please go out and find Xboxes that had connected to Xbox Live before the hard drives die! For PAL regions we’re badly in need of German and French console dumps. We’re also badly in need of console dumps from Japan and South East Asia.

Thanks for reading!

I think it would be awesome to start one. I haven't been diagnosed with CPTSD quite yet but the term keeps coming up with my doctors and I think it to be an applicable one for me.

I feel that atm PeerTube has too many issues to make it viable and am hoping for a different platform to rise up. My issues with PeerTube largely come down to five things based on when I last used it (a few months ago):

  1. UX/UI: It really suffers in this department. It looks and feels kind of old and unintuitive. This is the least of my complaints but imo it’s one of the worst mainstream fedi UIs.

  2. Over-reliance on plugins vs native features. The devs have taken a strategy of “Feature doesn’t exist? People can make a plugin for it!” for several features, most notably stream live chat. In practice this means even more dependencies and even more components that can break with updates/changes. And since they’re not unilateral across instances it makes everything even more confusing than most fedi sites. IMO plugins should only be for slight changes that affect the local experience rather than major requested features.

  3. Lack of a mobile app. As someone who doesn’t watch YouTube on my PC much but does on my phone, the devs statement that they don’t see mobile as a priority at all and have no plans to develop a mobile app really sucks. What does exist is exclusively for android and imo isn’t a great user experience either. This immediately kills my desire to watch content on a PeerTube instance.

  4. Moderation problems. PeerTube has a serious lack of moderation tools for instances to where federating is largely not recommended due to neo-nazi and alt-right content slipping in even when you’re really trying to keep it out. Most federation features have notices saying that enabling them isn’t recommended. Yikes. When I was running an instance I had a very hard time keeping questionable content at bay, while I don’t have that issue on Masto or Pixelfed or really anything else.

  5. Set up/maintenance can be a nightmare. Trying to set up a PeerTube instance involves a mess of dependencies and the upgrade process is not nearly as smooth as other software. I can say this as someone who has hosted PeerTube and had it break during an update about five or six times.
