Yes during winter when we need to heat anyway, but the extra energy cost (as seen through the energy meter) is more than 200โ‚ฌ per year here in belgium. I can't justify that cost right now.

i stopped when seti@home ended, had a nice server running for them on and off for years. kinda miss it, but no longer have a server, just the stupid 42u rack....

1st time I've heard of this. Used to donate time to the SETI project but dropped out over time. I think I'm going to contribute to BOINC this time.

I have been crunching BOINC for years. Very fun to be involved with and helps heat my apartment in winter.

i did it for years, you can limit how much the program uses of your computer (ex. limit max 30% cpu usage), so its not running full out all the time. I used it on my server for a long time too, they had it setup nice. it was one of the few programs that server ran that actually used all 32 cores on both processors.
