I absolutely love these little muscle cars - they’re so beautiful; especially maintained

Someone in my neighborhood has one just like this picture. I always stop and stare when it drives by.

Apparently my mother in law had one as well, but I haven’t a seen a picture of it or anything.

yes! absolutely love the vintage fj40s… would add international scout in the same category!

Hard to link images for me on mobile, but for me it's the classic Corvette Stingray. Late 60s early 70s were the pinnacle; they still supposedly make them but they don't look like themselves anymore.

1964 Pontiac Grand Prix.

While the GTO is legendary for pretty much sparking the era of the muscle car, the Grand Prix's looks are just so much more understated. To me, the GTO is like an Affliction t-shirt while the Grand Prix is more like a nice button down. The GTO goes out and gets life. The GP kicks back and lets life happen.

I still love the classic GTO in much the same way that I love an Affliction shirt. But there's one of them I'd rather my mother see me in.

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale (not sure that one is totally original) is one of the most-beautiful, in my opinion. Dat ass.

[-] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

oh she’s definitely a looker, lotus elise vibes - I love it

Great choice. They've aged so gracefully relative to their peers.

[-] stillnotahero@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Right on. Sure the interiors might show their age. But for a car that’s pushing 30 years old, it is still incredibly sharp.

The FD is honestly such a timeless design. Even my non-gearhead wife thinks they're beautiful.

I'm a sucker for malaise era land yachts, so I say the 1976 Cadillac Eldorado.

All show, no go. Just like me 🤗

[-] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

lolol I miss my old buick regal, nothing like couch seating, smooth boat like ride, easy steering, massive space

[-] hrimfaxi_work@midwest.social 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

So good. My first car was a 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis. That video is of a '77 Marquis Brougham, but I don't recognize any notable differences between that and the 4-door Grand.

Besides all the bullshit problems it gave me, how unreliable it was, how poorly it drove on snow and ice, and how much fuel it consumed, it was a great car 😋 I honest to god miss it every day.

[-] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

lolololol reading this brought back memories. mine had a perfect well maintained engine but the body had too much salt and rust damage to keep going without a cash infusion lolol

There's something untouchable about the 250 gto.

[-] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I complete agree

[-] poundsignbuttstuff@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I know I'm basic but nothing will ever beat the 60s mustangs for me. The 67 is perfect imo as it was the best balance of overbite on the front and tail length but the 64 1/2 is a thing of beauty as well. The fastbacks is what killed me. Iirc that started 69 or 70 and I didn't like the Mustangs again until the 90s although that's mostly nostalgia because they look very 90s.

[-] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I love me some proper eleanor too

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Ever since need for speed 2, I've loved the Mclaren F1.

Amazing performance and it just looks great. And it even has a back seat, so your super car owning fantasies can include a family of up to 3.

[-] desmosthenes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

oh yea that car is otherwordly

bmw 2002 hands down. i would kill for a clean daily but that’s some serious money….

2016 Mercedes S63 AMG. My daily driver is the 2015, and so jealous when I see the 2016, it’s perfect. It’s gonna be a sad day when I have to move on.

Touring Disco Volante Alfa Romeo TZ2 Jaguar XKSS Jaguar C-X75 Ford GT 2005 Lotus Elise S1 (more cute than beautiful)

[-] darganon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is about the prettiest car I've ever seen.

[-] Professorozone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Aston Martin Vantage Jaguar Type F Alfa Romeo Spyder (2000+, or Brera) Alfa Romeo C8 Volvo P1800 Cyan Mercedes SLS (New one ~2015)

That's my list anyway.

Thank you. I try to keep my ass solid.

[-] Amilo159@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

For dream machines, Lamborghini Miura and Montreal, Jaguar XJ220, Aston Martin DB7 and DB9, Alfa Romeo 8C, Toyota GT2000 and Honda NSX (gen1 with popup).

For a realistic car that you may actually see on roads, Alfa Romeo 159/Brera. Those things are so achingly beautiful.
