I made a signing bench for our friends upcoming wedding. Guests are supposed to sign it all over. After the big day, I will then finish it with a UV resistant finish. It's made of pressure treated lumber because they want it for their back deck.

Make sure you test the same marker and finish on a scrap pie ce first to make sure the ink doesn't run

If I could make one suggestion: after you stain it, make sure to take a lot of photos of the notes and messages so that if anything ever happens to the bench the couple can get the photos printed.

That's a really cool idea

My wife and I pull out a cookie jar with all the notes from our wedding and it makes us laugh. Having those messages be around in an easy place sounds awesome!
